The Doctor’s Order – GH

gourmez3By Becca

It was pick and choose your favorite surprise arrival this week! Audrey, Ethan, Brenda, and Jax all popped up in one episode, not to mention the million more folks who have appeared in recent days. But my favorite was definitely Audrey, who played a passing role in one of Liz’s many storylines. Part of me, the cynical side, rolled my eyes at bringing Audrey in, yet again, just for a GH anniversary celebration. But then the sap part of me whacked the cynic over the head and said, “Enjoy!” And I have, all week long.

Look, I love Finola Hughes. I love that Anna Devane is getting plenty of screentime. I don’t love her romantic triangle with Duke and Luke, and I swear it’s not merely because I prefer her with Robert. Duke and Luke rhyme. Need I say more? I will. Anna had more chemistry with Fake Lavery than she does with Real Lavery. Did all of Duke’s passion and energy get transplanted into that mask?

These first three weeks of 2013 have surprised me with unexpectedly hot love scenes and curveballs regarding who was most injured in the crash. Sorry, Trey. Most surprising for me, however, was that Connie showed signs of a conscience … and I cared.

I have said it before, and I’ll say it again — I am so happy that Todd Manning moved to Port Charles. Who else would call a meeting of the Port Charles One-Percenters? And wouldn’t that be an awesome band name?

So Robin died. And then she didn’t. Sound familiar?

Kimberly McCullough Interviews Her Co-Stars – GH

Around a month ago, I posted a few interviews that Kimberly McCullough, my beloved Robin Scorpio, had done with her co-stars, make-up artists, and even the GH Fan Club president as part of saying goodbye to General Hospital. Now I haven’t watched yesterday’s episode of the show yet, but I know it’ll take me some time to process it before I can say anything coherent. In the meantime, enjoy more of Kimberly’s interviews!

Want to know a secret? Okay, it’s not a secret if you are at all a regular reader of my column. If you aren’t, or I just haven’t gushed enough lately, the secret is this: Robin Scorpio-Drake is my girl. No really, I mean it. I’ve grown up with Robin, and I continue to get older with her. I think she has a couple of years on me, but you can bet that while Robert Scorpio had his little girl on his knee, I was probably watching from the other side of the screen on my mother’s knee.

Folks, it’s time for a change. Perhaps I’m feeling the need for something different to coincide with our refreshing new plot directions. Maybe I’m just tired of trying to relate Port Charles shenanigans to various forms of cuisine. Most likely, I want an excuse to insert myself in a picture of the scrumptious Doctors Drake. Whatever the reason, “This Week’s Specials” is now “The Doctor’s Order.” After my customary mix of praising, overanalyzing, and ranting, I’ll end each column with a prescription the show should follow for better health. I think we, the audience, are best qualified to make a diagnosis of General Hospital’s condition.

This Week’s Specials – GH

Want a winning combination of flavor and snark baked at the right chemistry? Well, I have something for you on this week’s special menu: the Scorpio/Drake/Jones platter! Just take Robin, Patrick, Matt, and Maxie and sit them in a bar, then wait for the entertaining dialogue to ensue! That quartet always makes me smile, probably because I exchange insults just as freely with my husband. Did I say insults? I meant witty banter!

This Week’s Specials — GH

In celebration of a pretty darn good week of General Hospital, I offer up a platter of tasty truffles! Perhaps you’d like the raw brown sugar and fig filling, covered with a shell of burgeoning young love in need of a fashion fix. Maybe the Corinthos lemon and ginger is more your style—the two flavors frustrate yet complement each other rather well. Perhaps the Failed Plot, a white chocolate treat with a filling of insanity and gas fumes? Whatever your taste in chocolates, I hope something tantalized you on this week’s specials menu!

Let’s start with the resolution—finally—of Lisa’s stalking of Robin and Patrick. I admit, I was surprised when she moved on from trying to get Patrick back to setting him up for Robin’s murder.
