The Doctor’s Order – GH

So this vampire storyline is going legit? I honestly expected the illusions of slayer grandeur to be treated as a funny little quirk of Lucy’s like her fortune-telling ways and her love of Sigmund. Instead, the showrunners are validating Port Charles’s insane history. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Maybe “tasty”?

Maybe “tasty”?

I want to say it doesn’t belong on General Hospital, but we did have an alien, and any show wherein freezing the world is a legitimate possibility can probably roll with vampires and slayers. And lest I ever forget, there was zombie Diego born again as a text-message killer. Whatever the believability factor, Lucy has to cut back on that extreme ponytail.

It makes her look like a flying monkey or a valkrie! Maybe that’s the point? Regardless, we have double the Michael Easton running around on the show, and if I complained about that, I’m pretty sure his legions of fans would feign disbelief that such a thing were possible. Are we all feigning disbelief about him leaving the show at least temporarily to assist in relaunching One Life to Live?

I am unspoiled (note: don’t worry about spoiling me. I don’t really mind), but it seems like Todd’s going on the run just in time to jump ship for Prospect Park’s new production as well. I’m not going to lie, I’m glad we, the GH viewers, get to keep the actor in the end, but I’m not looking forward to watching him be a different character, so I hope they work it out that Todd will be the one who returns. Casting actors as new characters works occasionally; Kevin Collins is so much better than Ryan Collins, but I’d say the jury’s still out on Casey the alien versus Shep Casey. We won’t even mention Rebecca and Emily. Who’d ever thought we’d see Kevin again, anyway?

I don't know how to describe this expression. It's transcendent.

He and Lucy have maintained great tenderness and shared irritability! But he treats her with a pity that makes me sad. Help me out, those of you who watched Port Charles, did Kevin never believe what went on during that show? I think that’s part of my problem with connecting with General Hospital the last few weeks—too many old storylines to try and remember! But I appreciate the attempts to bring it all together all the same.

Speaking of familiar faces, Genie Francis looks fabulous.

laura return

I love her hair brown with those red tones! Of course, Anna brought up their past supercouple pairings to Luke the moment Laura reappeared in town. I am so glad she did, because that relationship absolutely had to die.

You go, girl.

You go, girl.

Luke respects her as equals, which is awesome, but they make much better friends than lovers. Anna was just being honest—they don’t have that spark that soap opera supercouples are made from. You know it’ll be electric when Luke and Laura see each other face-to-face. Plus, Anna fervently yearning for that pull of real, life-changing love was heartbreaking. She has had one crap year. I hope 2013 is a better one, full of finding Robin and having two fabulous suitors to choose from: Robert and Duke. What she had with them both is something she will never have with Luke. Reprising that triangle is the stuff of my dreams.

There’s potential in the triangle developing for Molly, Rafe, and TJ. Poor Halley Pullos sounds like she’s had bronchitis since Rafe’s introduction, but they would make an adorable couple.

rafe molly

I quite enjoyed her with the actor who played TJ previously, but I haven’t seen her with Tequan Richard enough to really get a feel for their chemistry. I’m glad TJ’s still around, however, and I’d like to see Shawn being conflicted about maintaining his ties to the mob while trying to raise TJ to be a good man.

Prescription for Better Soap: Start delivering on my dreams of a Robert/Duke/Anna triangle by building up the relationship between Duke and Anna while Robert recovers. Make it clear whether or not Caleb is a vampire or a delusional killer Lucy’s mistaken for one. Finally … nevermind. I was going to advise you to make Luke and Laura’s first scenes magical, but that’s a given. They don’t need our help for that to happen.

See you soon for my next prescription!

Your prescription should also include something about ending the ridiculous Maxie pregnancy storyline, and getting rid of Brit once and for all in the process.

Oh my, yes. I just can’t believe Maxie would really hide that it’s Spinelli’s child from everyone for long. And I enjoyed Britt flat out telling Emma she didn’t like her, but that’s the only thing I’ve liked Britt doing ever.
